Gillingham boss Mark Stimson will look to off-load a trio of players in a bid to free up some room in his transfer budget.

Andy Pugh and Charlie Howard could be leaving on loan at the beginning of this week and Stuart Thurgood’s name will also be circulated.

"You’ve always got to balance the books if you want to bring someone in," said Stimson.

Thurgood was in talks over a permanent move to fellow League 2 side Dagenham but the Essex side have gone cold on the deal.

"They haven’t got back to me so I’ll put his name out for loan," said Stimson. "If any club come in they can take him on loan and that’s probably the next best thing. He needs to play football."

Stimson’s attempt to lure Nigerian defender Bobsam Elejiko on a short term deal failed after the player returned to Belgium at the end of last week.

Meanwhile, Gillingham captain Andrew Crofts has been named in John Toshack’s Wales squad to face Georgia in a friendly international on Wednesday, August 20.
