THE Medway-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team suffered a first leg defeat in the National League Final in Newcastle on Saturday.

The Mos were beaten 3-2 in a close encounter. At one stage during the second period they were on top.

Goals from Peter Carey and Damien Welch put Invicta 2-1 ahead after fighting back from conceding an eighth minute strike.

Newcastle turned the tie around, though, and head into the return leg at the Gillingham’s Ice Bowl on Sunday, April 22, with a slender advantage.
