Kent athlete Shaunagh Brown won a bronze medal in the discus at the Commonwealth Youth Games in India.

Brown, from Gillingham, will not have been pleased with her distance of 42.96m in the city of Pune, but she would have needed to throw a further five and a half metres to win silver.

The Blackheath & Bromley athlete also nearly picked up a bronze in the shot, but but had to settle for fourth with a putt of 14.07, which was 17cm away from a medal.
