MARGATE have awarded a testimonial to popular long-serving defender Billy Edwards. He joined the club in 1996 and made his 400th appearance for them earlier this season.

Edwards, who celebrated his 30th birthday last month, has also had spells with Tooting, Fisher Athletic and Sutton United.

The game is due to take place on August 6, but details of who the opponents will be have still to be announced.

Supporters are hoping the match will be staged to celebrate their return to Hartsdown Park after three years away.
