Suspension rules Diawara out of basement clash

FIFTH BOOKING: Souleymane Diawara
FIFTH BOOKING: Souleymane Diawara

CHARLTON manager Alan Pardew will be forced into making at least one change for Saturday's match at bottom of the table Watford.

It's been confirmed that central defender Souleymane Diawara will miss the match through a one-match suspension following his fifth booking of the season in Saturday's 4-0 defeat of West Ham.

The Senegal international was cautioned by referee Rob Styles for a 54th minute tackle on Yossi Benayoun.

Diawara's absence means Charlton must name a fourth central defensive partnership in as many matches.

Pardew will be hoping that Hermann Hreidarsson and newcomer Madjid Bougherra will have recovered in time from injuries to face Watford.

* In Monday's clash of the two reserve teams at Gravesend's Stonebridge Road, Charlton and West Ham drew 1-1.
