Striker Darius set for Gills exit

DARIUS HENDERSON could be on his way out of Gillingham this week after an unnamed club put in an offer for him.

Henderson played the last game of his loan spell for Swindon on Saturday, scoring in a 1-1 draw at Blackpool.

Swindon have had two bids for the striker turned down by the Gills, but assistant manager Wayne Jones said a second club had come in for him.

He said: “Swindon have had two bids but another club has made an offer that could see Darius going. We have plenty of cover up front and if it’s good for Darius too then the move could happen. It would allow us to bring in a few players on loan.”

Gillingham are still hopeful of bring England Under-21 midfielder Gary O’Neil to Priestfield on loan.

Jones said: “Hopefully, something will happen with O’Neil this week. He’s a player we want very much but it’s down to Harry Redknapp.”
