Gillingham manager Mark Stimson is keen to see Mark Bentley play in central defence more often.

Bentley, pictured at the final whistle, took on the role against Leeds, as regular defender Garry Richards was unavailable, after suffering a blow to the head in training and he impressed the Gills boss.

Stimson said: “Garry took a nasty whack and didn’t train in the week. With Mark Bentley desperate to play, it was an opportunity for him and I thought he was outstanding. It’s a position I might be talking to Benno about in the future.”
