Kent will hope to extend their five-match winning run in all competitions over the next four days in Taunton where they take on Somerset in an LV Championship game against Somerset.

Rob Key's side travel to the West Country full of enthusiasm yet low in energy from a punishing schedule of games that has allowed them only three days' break in the last 53.

Having beaten Surrey and Yorkshire back-to-back, Key's men now look to take on newly promoted Somerset and avenge the narrow defeat they suffered in a thrilling finish at Tunbridge Wells on May 24 when Joe Denly just failed in his attempt to bat the hosts to an unlikely win.

After struggling through the last few games with a slight groin strain, all-rounder Darren Stevens looks set to miss his first championship game of the summer.

Should Stevens fail a late fitness test, Matthew Walker will come in to make a rare four-day appearance.

In the only other likely change to the squad that secured a third Championship win of the summer on Monday, Azhar Mahmood will be replaced by all-rounder Ryan McLaren, who was rested for the victory over the White Rosecounty.

Kent go into this, their ninth game of the four-day campaign, third in Division 1 but only two points behind leaders Nottinghamshire having played the same number of matches.
