Sporting coup as Kent gets minigolf tournament

THE British Minigolf Open is coming to Margate on September 15 and 16 with professional players from across Europe and the UK lining up to play in the fun competition which is also open to families and amateur players.

In a sporting coup for Kent, the BMGA 10th international event has moved from its long-standing home in Hastings to be played at Strokes adventure golf course at Westbrook promenade.

Sean Homer, captain of the Kent Minigolf Club, is one of Britain's leading players. He said: "We are thrilled to be hosting the British Open. We have already received entries from Germany, Sweden and even the Czech Republic, as well as most of the current top 10 UK players."

The champion will receive £500 prize money and the Open trophy. There is a novice prize for the best amateur player.
