MANAGER Neil Smith has warned his under-performing squad that time could be running out on their Welling careers ahead of the derby match with Bromley at Park View Road on Saturday.

Smith's patience is wearing thin after the Wings suffered their eighth Blue Square South defeat of the season at Basingstoke last weekend.

He said: "I've given them a good chance this season and I believe they are good players, but the results suggest otherwise.

"We keep making the same mistakes in games, over and over again. If they are not going to take it on board then I'll get people in who will."

Of Saturday's game, he said: "It's a local derby so our fans will be up for the game as well and it will be a big win for us if we can get it."

Meanwhile, Bromley will be looking to bounce back from two straight defeats.

The club's Blue Square South fixture last Tuesday saw them suffer a 4-3 home defeat to St Albans – conceding three goals in the opening seven minutes.

Player-coach Simon Osborn said: "We've got to pick ourselves up. Tuesday's game was the most bizarre eight minutes of football I've ever seen."

Osborn is struggling with an ankle injury, while Sam Wood and Simon Glover both picked up knocks against Eastbourne.
