Scally lashes stay-away season ticket holders

PAUL SCALLY: "...either you support the club or you don't"

AS GILLINGHAM supporters awaited news about tickets for the FA Cup tie against Leeds, club chairman Paul Scally hinted today that season ticket holders might not receive priority for major cup ties because, he says, they do not deserve it.

His remarks came following Tuesday’s low attendance for the third round match against Sheffield Wednesday. He said: “I can’t believe that out of 4,500 season ticket holders only 50 per cent decided to turn up.

"My belief is, and I take it very personally, that either you support the club or you don’t. Maybe I have to look at a policy which favours those who turn out on nights like Tuesday.

"Maybe there are people who came on Tuesday, who are not season ticket holders and who, because of the current policy, won’t be able to see the Leeds tie simply because they can't get a ticket. For me, that can't be right.”

Mr Scally did confirm that season ticket holders will get priority for the Leeds tie.
