Saturday scores leave Addicks on the brink

RESULTS on Saturday left Charlton needing to win both their remaining fixtures to stand any chance of Premiership survival.

A Carlos Tevez-inspired West Ham side dispatched Bolton Wanderers 3-1 at Upton Park to record their sixth win in eight matches, while Fulham beat a much-changed Liverpool side 1-0 at Craven Cottage thanks to Clint Dempsey's second half strike.

Despite Wigan losing 1-0 at home to Middlesbrough, Charlton now lie five points adrift of safety with with only six left to play for.

Charlton will be without the suspended Ben Thatcher who was sent off at Blackburn for two cautions against Tottenham on Monday night.

Table as it stands:

15th Fulham (played 37; points 39)
16th Sheffield United (played 37; points 38)

18th Wigan Athletic (played 37; points 35)
19th Charlton Athletic (played 36; points 33)
20th Watford* (played 37; points 27)
