Saturday football round-up

A DRAMATIC stoppage time equaliser from Nic McDonnell earned Bromley a point at home against Wealdstone in the Ryman League Premier Division.

It had looked like the visitors were going to travel home with all three points after Jermaine Beckford gave them the lead, but McDonnell showed why he’s the Lilywhites’ top scorer this season at the death.

Margate produced a fine performance to earn a 2-1 victory at Hendon.

Bertie Brayley gave Chris Kinnear’s side a first half lead but a stunning 40-yard strike levelled matters early in the second half.

But Brayley made sure Gate left with the points when he converted from the penalty spot 10 minutes from time.

But it wasn’t such good news for Folkestone Invicta who were on the receiving end of a smash-and-grab victory for Staines Town at the Buzzlines Stadium.

Invicta made plenty of chances but they were twice punished for not taking them, first by Jamie Guy with 20 minutes to go and then in injury time by Andre Scarlett.

Tonbridge Angels were celebrating on Saturday night after a 3-1 win against Corinthian Casuals at Longmead in Ryman League Division 1.

Goals from Steve Aris, Nick Barnes and Fraser Logan did the damage.

Ramsgate also took maximum points as goals from Mark Munday, Shaun Welford and Michael Yianni helped them to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Metropolitan Police at Southwood.

And Cray Wanderers were another Kent winner with a 2-0 win at struggling Banstead Athletic.

But Jobi Thorogood’s goal wasn’t enough for Ashford Town, who had to settle for just the one point at Molesey.

Dover Athletic were frustrated when their game at Whyteleafe was controversially called off due to a frozen pitch. The sides will now play on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.

In Southern League Division 1 East, Dartford continued their recent good form with a hard-earned 2-1 win at home against Wingate & Finchley.

The visitors took a first half lead before second half goals from Ryan Hayes and Dave Martin turned the match around.

Sittingbourne’s away match at Berkhamsted Town was called off at 10.30am due to a frozen pitch.
