FORMER England Test bowler Martin Saggers has described his one-month loan move to Essex as beneficial for him and both counties.

The 35-year-old swing bowler, sidelined of late through a hamstring injury, has agreed a temporary move to Chelmsford.

Saggers said: "With our first team being pretty settled and with my return to fitness, the last thing I wanted to be doing was sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

"It's a win-win situation because it gets me some first team cricket and helps get me fit. But Kent have the right to recall me should they need me."
