Resolute Fleet earn a replay

Wrexham 0 Ebbsfleet 0

Ebbsfleet came through a potentially tricky FA Trophy tie by holding 10-man Wrexham to a goalless draw at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

It was a good result for the holders against opponents flying high in Blue Square Premier who have ambitions of getting back into the Football League this season.

However, a good day for Liam Daish’s side was marred by an injury to midfielder Craig Stone who was taken to hospital with what was later diagnosed as a broken leg.

Jefferson Louis spurned a good chance to put Wrexham ahead after 13 minutes, but his shot was saved by Fleet keeper Lance Cronin. At the other end Stacy Long's free-kick was held by Wrexham keeper Gavin Ward under his crossbar.

Cronin saved from Nathan Fairhurst and Sam Aiston, before the visitors had the advantage of playing the last 24 minutes with an extra man after Wrexham’s French centre-back Aurelien Collin was sent off.

Collin saw red for a professional foul on Luke Moore on the edge of the box which ensured his debut came to a premature end.

The replay will take place at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday night meaning Fleet’s Blue Square Premier fixture at Eastbourne Borough has been postponed.
