Reading 2 Charlton Athletic 0

CHARLTON remain rooted to the foot of the Premiership table after Les Reed's first game in charge ended in a disappointing defeat at Reading on Saturday.

The home side took the lead in the 18th minute when Nicky Shorey's cross was powerfully headed past Addicks keeper Scott Carson by an unmarked Seol Ki-Hyeon.

Glenn Little should have made it two in the 24th minute but his close range effort was off target.

But it was 2-0 with 18 minutes to play when Kevin Doyle lobbed Carson after Steve Sidwell's mis-hit shot had fallen to him.

Charlton: Carson, Young, Fortune, El Karkouri, Hreidarsson, Rommedahl, Holland, Reid, Thomas (Ambrose 57), M Bent (Sam 79), D Bent.
Subs not used: Andersen, Ashton, Hughes.
