Pupils book their spot for Wembley finale

A GROUP of girl footballers from a Kent school have booked a dream date at Wembley later this month.

Eight under-13 girls from Darrick Wood School have been representing Crystal Palace in a series of mini football tournaments against other girls’ teams representing other professional clubs.

And after going unbeaten and conceding just two goals in the eight qualifying tournaments played, Darrick Wood will now represent the whole of the south of England against the northern section winners, Tranmere, at Wembley on March 30.

The semi-final of the competition took place at Palace’s Selhurst Park ground, where Darrick Wood overcame Bristol Rovers, Coventry and the MK Dons without conceding a goal.

The clash will take place during the half-time interval of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final.

Darrick Wood: Catherine Long, Molly Cassidy, Emily Farrell, Emily Williamson, Nicola Killick, Natasha Carmen-Spena, Michelle Newing, Eloise Kindon.
