Point for Gills at Preston

Preston 0 Gillingham 0

GILLINGHAM maintained their recent momentum away from the relegation zone with a precious point from Saturday's goalless draw at Preston.

Andy Hessenthaler's patched up side, that included debut-making Matt Jarvis, produced a gritty performance to check Preston's march on the play-off places.

Goalkeeper Steve Banks, back with the club after leaving in the mid 90s, was well protected by a quick-covering defence that left little to chance.

Midfielder Danny Spiller,Gillingham's outstanding player, missed their best chance in the 67th minute when he shot wide after Jarvis had played him through.

Preston nearly snatched victory in the final minute of second half stoppage but Banks saved with his legs.
