Pierre fails to impress Hess

GILLINGHAM'S player-manager Andy Hessenthaler was at Coventry last night watching long-time transfer target Nigel Pierre playing for West Ham Reserves. But the big striker failed to impress in a 2-0 defeat for the Hammers.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have recalled striker Yannick Kamanan from his week's trial at Gillingham. The 20-year-old striker played in Tuesday's friendly against Maidstone and was scheduled to play for the reserves on Wednesday.

"Tottenham recalled him because they wanted him to play in a reserve game on Thursday," Hessenthaler explained. "Hopefully we'll be able to get him back to play in a more competitive reserve game."
