Perpetuini doubtful for Stoke clash

DAVID PERPETUINI: May miss out

GILLINGHAM'S David Perpetuini is set to miss the match against Stoke at Priestfield on Saturday. He hobbled off after just 26 minutes at Walsall last weekend after twisting his ankle and looks a major doubt.

But Rod Wallace should play a part after the striker came through 70 minutes with the reserves with no reaction to his hamstring strain.

Captain Paul Smith says that the return of former Gillingham manager Tony Pulis to Priestfield will add a bit of spice to the game but has never forgotten what his former manager did for him.

He said: “Tony signed me for the club and I had a great two years with him but things have gone on between him and the chairman, things have been to court, but on Saturday we've got to forget about all that.

“He made me a better player and I've got a lot to thank him for. I was happy at Brentford but his enthusiasm rubbed off on me and that's why I signed and it's my sixth season here now.”

Gills manager Andy Hessenthaler misses the game through suspension after his sending-off against Sheffield Wednesday on November 16.
