Former Kent spinner Min Patel has been selected for the MCC to play against New Zealand in their opening game of the tour in Arundel on Sunday.

The left-arm spinner, who was forced to retire from the first-class game during the winter after recurring elbow injuries, is one over several elder statesmen named in the MCC line up.

Former Kiwi all-rounder Chris Cairns will captain the team that also includes another former player, wicketkeeper Paul Nixon.

The 50-overs a side game start at 10.45am.

MCC team: Darren Bicknell, Hylton Ackerman, Richard Montgomerie, Rob Nicol, Nathan Astle, Sean Ervine, Chris Cairns (capt), John Stephenson, Paul Nixon (wkt), Steve Elworthy, Min Patel.
