Head coach Kevin Parrish admits he has put his reputation on the line after bringing forward Andy Smith back to Invicta Dynamos.

Smith is the club’s second all time highest points scorer after amassing 410 points for the Dynamos in 146 games.

After showing a lack of commitment over the last two seasons, Smith returned to the club last Thursday and featured in the 4-3 home victory over Peterborough Islanders in ENIHL South 1 on Sunday.

Parrish said: “Andy knows that if anything happens this time then that will be it. He let the fans down because a couple of years ago they worshipped him.

“I’m definitely putting my neck on the line. It was totally my decision and I’ve said to Andy that I’m putting my trust in him. He’s got a point to prove, not only to the fans but also to his team-mates.”

Smith announced his return to the Dynamos line-up with an assist in the side’s victory over Peterborough. “It was difficult at first after not playing for a while and having had only two nights of training,” he said. “But the atmosphere in the locker room is great, the quality of the squad is excellent and I’m looking forward to paying the fans back for their support.”

The Dynamos return to league action with a trip to play Oxford Stars on Sunday.
