No new faces likely at Priestfield

AS TOMORROW'S transfer deadline moves closer, the chances of Gillingham bringing in the new faces manager Andy Hessenthaler wants to freshen up his squad are rapidly receding.

With Gillingham safe for another season in Division 1 and enjoying mid-table respectability, it appears likely that the club will see out their remaining five games with the same squad.

Gillingham have been linked with Halifax's 10-goal top scorer Paul Harsley who is out of contract at the end of the season. But if there is to be any movement it will more than likely be out rather than in.

Barnsley today confirmed they were no longer interested in centre-back Chris Hope. "We made an inquiry but that's all it was," said manager Steve Parkin. "Since then we have signed Mike Flynn from Stockport so we don't need another centre-back."
