No dream tie for Gillingham

ANDY HESSENTHALER: wanted Man United

GILLINGHAM'S dreams of landing a big Premier League club in the fourth round of the FA Cup have been dashed. They have been drawn away to last season's quarter-finalists Burnley on January 24.

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler, whose side outplayed local rivals Charlton in Saturday's shock 3-2 win at Priestfield, had made no secret of wanting Manchester United at home or away.

But he has the consolation of knowing that Gillingham have enjoyed a good record at Turf Moor in recent seasons. Though they lost 2-0 there last season, Gills have become something of a bogey side to Stan Ternent's side.

They drew 1-1 in the 2000-01 season and in season 1999-2000 won 3-0. And famously, in season 1998-99, Robert Taylor scored all five goals in a 5-0 rout. In doing so he re-wrote the club record books.

Burnley reached the fourth round with Saturday's 2-0 win at Mansfield.
