New strip: it's make-your-mind-up time

GILLS fans have up until 5pm Friday to make a difference in what colour the home shirt will be next season.

Chairman Paul Scally announced the number of orders with payment for each strip will influence the final decision on whether white or blue shirts will be used at Priestfield.

By calling at the Megastore in Redfern Avenue, phoning the special kit hotline on 01634 350102 or visiting www.gillsmegastore.com supporters can order the kit of their choice and have a bearing on the final decision.

The decision to replace the blue shirt, which has been worn as Gillingham’s home strip since 1930-31, has proved controversial with some fans.

Indications from a Meridian TV phone poll on Wednesday are that fans favour the traditional home kit, with 74 per cent of callers voting to keep the new white version for away games.

Mr Scally is expected to make an announcement next week when the pre-order figures have been calculated.
