TAKALOO: first fight at his new weight

KENT boxer Takaloo will be back in the ring for the first time in many months on Saturday, February 25, when he fights German welterweight champion Turgay Uzun in a 12-round contest at the London Excel Arena in Docklands.

It will be the 31-year-old Margate fighter's first fight at his new weight and steps in to replace injured Ross Minter on the undercard for Danny Williams' British and Commonwealth heavyweight title clash against Matt Skelton.

He hasn't fought since beating Londoner Delroy Mellis over eight rounds in Edinburgh last July, and this late call-up is a dramatic change of fortunes for the Thanet puncher whose last fight was called off after three planned opponents withdrew for a variety of reasons.

Uzun who, hails from Koblenz, is just a month younger than Takaloo and has won 20 and lost five of his previous 27 fights. It's the first time he has fought in England.
