Top boat angler Chris Forman claimed his best catch of the winter cod season so far on Sunday with a monster weighing in at 27lb 15oz.

Forman, from Snodland, teamed up with local cod hunter Dave George from Minster to tempt this winter visitor onto the hook.

These two were angling close to the shore at a venue known locally as Grain Edge, where the river Medway meets the Thames.

Anglers right around Sheppey, on the shore and at boat venues, have been reporting many decent cod catches. At the moment the preferred boat angling venues are number two and four buoys, and the outer boom marker.
