Lillywhites second best in Wales

Newport County 3 Bromley 0

Bromley were well beaten in tough conditions at Newport County on Saturday.

A poor start saw the Lillywhites 2-0 down inside 28 minutes and they never looked likely to recover.

The opening goal came in freak circumstances in the 20th minute as full-back Paul Bignot's cross sailed over everyone, including Gareth Williams in the Bromley goal, and nestled in the back of the net.

Eight minutes later the points were effectively sealed when Rob Gillman was penalised for a foul on Craig Hughes in the box and Craig Reid sent Williams the wrong way from the spot.

Any chance the Lillywhites had of getting back into the game evaporated when defender Adam Everitt received his marching orders after picking up two bookings in quick succession - the first for a foul on Paul Hall and the second for pulling back Danny Rose.

And shortly afterwards - on 67 minutes - Hughes rounded Williams and his cross-shot was touched in (with more than a hint of offside) from close range by Hall to complete the scoring.
