Key just misses double century

KEY: out for 199
KEY: out for 199

SURREY were left to chase 174 from the remaining 47 overs of the game at The Oval after Kent were finally dismissed for 413 an hour after lunch.

Rob Key anchored the innings, batting just over 12 hours in the match, he reached 199 before a tired drive to a Martin Bicknell out-swinger led to his demise to a catch at slip by Ali Brown.

Rob Ferley (4) and Martin Saggers (0) went soon after, but the last wicket pair of Mohammad Sami (29) and Amjad Khan (22) added 49 in quick time before Sami holed out to mid-off.

Surrey opener Scott Newman took three fours off Sami’s opening over of the reply, but Saggers trapped Nadeem Shahid leg before (0) to give Kent a glimmer of hope as the hosts reached 45 for one after six overs.
