Kent suffer third day wash out

KENT and Yorkshire suffered a frustrating Friday as rain hit their Liverpool Victoria Championship match at Headingley.

Heavy overnight rain coupled with leaden skies and morning showers ensured there was no play on the third day of four.

Umpires Barrie Duddleston and Graham Burgess held a cursory inspection at 2pm and decided there would be no play before tea.

They held a second inspection at 3.50pm and abandoned play for the day.

After two enthralling days, Kent had reached 228 for six in reply to Yorkshire's first innings total of 310 all out.

The game, which now seems certain to end in a draw, is scheduled to finish on Saturday.
