FRUSTRATED home skipper Rob Key sent out for a new pack of playing cards after the second day's play in Kent's vital LV Championship match with basement side Worcestershire was washed out.

The covers and sheets remained firmly in place over the St Lawrence square throughout Wednesday and yet again not a ball was bowled.

Match umpires Barry Duddleston and Stephen Garratt held brief inspections at 11am, noon, 3pm and 3.45pm but rain and bad light persisted.

Key, a poker fanatic, has clearly worn out his old deck in recent weeks when Kent have had matches against Worcestershire and Warwickshire ravaged by poor weather.

Should the game get underway on Thursday, Kent are set to include Simon Cook, who was rested from last week's draw in Birmingham, and Neil Dexter, who turned 23 yesterday, who replaces groin-strain victim Darren Stevens.
