Kent romp home at The Nevill

KENT secured their first maximum points win of the season after securing a seven-wicket victory over unbeaten Lancashire in Tunbridge Wells.

The hosts got home just after 2.30pm on the final day of this Frizzell Championship clash to move three places up the Division 1 table in one swoop.

Needing 88 to win, Kent reached victory with a clipped four by Ed Smith (21), to inflict Lancashire’s first defeat in any form of cricket this summer.

Earlier, Kent had taken the last four Lancashire wickets inside 90 minutes to dismiss the visitors for 395 following-on.

Andrew Symonds was clearly man-of-the-match, bowling 52 overs to finish with five for 140 to go with two magnificent catches.

Kent 22pts, Lancashire 4pts.
