Kent lose both openers at Southgate

MICHAEL CARBERRY: First to go after a poor shot

KENT made a disastrous start to day two of their Frizzell Championship match with Middlesex in Southgate.

Responding to the hosts 351 all out, Kent limped to 17 for two after losing both openers inside 35 minutes - both to dreadful shots.

Carberry hung his bat out to dry to Simon Cook to be caught at slip without scoring then skipper David Fulton edged to wicketkeeper David Nash after trying to cut a Cook lifter.

That bought in prolific run-getter Michael Bevan for his Kent debut.
