Keeper Masters up to the challenge at Welling

Welling v Chelmsford

On-loan Welling keeper Clark Masters is relishing the chance to play first-team football.

Masters has joined the Wings on an initial two-month loan from Southend but the deal will become season-long in January and he is enjoying playing regularly again.

“I’m happy to be here for the remainder of the season,” he said. "As a goalkeeper it’s all about getting games under your belt. The more games you can play, the more consistent you are going to be and the more confident you will get.”

Masters enjoyed a loan spell at Welling last season but times are different this campaign with the Wings looking at the other end of the table rather than teams below them - including Saturday's home match against leaders Chelmsford.

“It was always a battle last season but I really enjoyed it,” added Masters. “It’s a good club and I like being here. We’re definitely capable of being top six, we can push to try and get a play-off position.

“It seems better now, it’s more professional, better standard of play and hopefully we can really push on and get something out of this season and obviously I’d like to be part of that.”

Wings boss Andy Ford, who has hinted he could ditch his attacking 4-3-3 formation after back to back Blue Square South draws, is still without Dorian Smith but club skipper Rob Quinn could be recalled after being axed to the bench at Dorchester last weekend.

The game will kick-off at 3pm after last month's floodlights problems were fixed.

Meanwhile, Bromley make the trip to troubled Fisher looking to extend their four-game unbeaten run.
