Welling United 1 - 0 Weston-super-Mare

WELLING substitute Danny Kedwell's second half strike gave the Wings their first league win since mid-November against Weston-super-Mare at Park View Road on Saturday.

Kedwell produced a cool finish with 13 minutes left to claim his 16th goal of the season and a much-needed win for Adrian Pennock's side.

It had appeared that the Wings would be frustrated by a combination of poor finishing and inspired goalkeeping from Weston's Ryan Northmore.

Chris Moore volleyed over on 18 minutes before Che Stadhart shot weakly at Northmore from close range.

The pressure continued as Jamie Day went close before Stadhart was again denied by the keeper.

Welling continued to press after the break with Matt Bodkin causing Weston problems down the right wing.

James Pinnock and Day both went close before Bodkin was surprisingly withdrawn for Kedwell, but it proved a masterstroke by Pennock.

Weston, whose only threat was a laughable penalty claim by Mark McKeever, never looked like equalising in the closing stages.
