Jepson warns Gills players

RONNIE JEPSON: We're not safe yet
RONNIE JEPSON: We're not safe yet

Preston v Gillingham

RONNIE JEPSON wants his players to come out of the Easter break at full power at Preston on Saturday as Gillingham continue their battle to beat the drop.

Gills’ assistant boss admitted they could have done without the two-week lay-off, which came with the club on a five-match unbeaten run.

And Jepson warned that his team will have to be at their best to get anything against a fourth-placed Preston side that have lost just once in 16 games.

He said: "Preston are a good side. We had them watched at Watford and they were impressive. We are under no illusions about the size of the task facing us.

"We are used to playing two games over the Easter holiday so it’s been quite strange for the players to have a break.

"We’d probably have preferred to keep the games coming at the moment but at least the players and refreshed and ready for the last push.

"It’s twitchy bum time at this stage of the season but if we can just keep performing the way we have been doing, then we have a good chance of beating the drop.

"Preston have good players and it’s going to be tough. I don’t know much about Patrick Agyemang but I’ve spoken to the lads and they’ve told me he’s a decent player who did well for Gillingham"

Meanwhile, Leeds have accepted their charge of failing to control their players during the ill-tempered clash with Gillingham last month. Gills have denied the charge and requested a personal hearing.
