Gillingham v Cheltenham

GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson has told fans not to let Tuesday night’s capitulation to Leyton Orient cloud the strides his team have made in recent weeks.

The Gills threw away a 3-0 lead in the last 13 minutes at Brisbane Road and ended up drawing the game 3-3 and three days earlier they had lost 4-1 at Oldham.

But, as Jepson was keen to point out, Gills have still won three and drawn one of their last five league 1 games and made significant improvements on their form at the start of the campaign.

Jepson said: "Football is quite incredible at times. I told the players I was disappointed with them after the game but I don’t see any need to start wielding the axe.

"We are not very far from being a good side and challenging at the top end of this league but we are also not far from being a bad one and fighting at the other end."
