Ice men lifted by Ward's return

DUANE WARD returns from suspension in a timely boost for the Invicta Dynamos ice hockey side ahead of Saturday's vital away game against current champions Swindon Lynx.

The prolific Canadian forward received a gross misconduct and a 10-minute abuse of official penalty following a verbal altercation with a referee away at Solihull on January 6.

The ENPL disciplinary committee deemed that the incident warranted only the minimum two-game suspension, served last weekend when the Mos only picked up one point. Ward, who has scored 17 goals in 15 games, is no longer the Dynamos top scorer as Matt Beveridge (20) and Mikko Skinnari (18) have overtaken him so there's added incentive for him to get back to goal-scoring ways.

On Sunday at the Gillingham Ice Bowl, Invicta will again line up against Swindon, this time in a league cup match. If the Mos are to progress from their tough group, which also includes Romford, Isle of Wight and Haringey they need to win.
