A TEENAGE hockey player is celebrating her first call-up to the England squad.

Lucy Stewart was included in the under-18 squad for the four-day session at Durham University.

The 17-year-old, from Saltwood, near Folkestone, said: "It was a big surprise.

"We had a tough schedule of four two-hour training sessions and three matches against Germany."

She heard about her selection after helping her club, Canterbury, finish runners up to Leicester in the national Super Cup last month, and also travelled to Berlin when the club were beaten in the European Clubs Championship final by Den Bosch.
