Hess eyes wing-back Myers

GILLINGHAM manager Andy Hessenthaler has added Bradford City's former Chelsea defender Andy Myers to his list of potential new signings.

The 29-year-old former England Youth and Under-21 international has been released on a free transfer and would welcome return to his native London where he has kept a home since leaving his first club Chelsea.

Increasing his appeal is the fact that he is an accomplished left-sided player, capable of playing at wing-back or left-sided central defence.

While at Chelsea he won an FA Cup winners’ medal in 1997 and a European Cup winners’ medal the following year. Two seasons ago he swept the board in Bradford’s Player of the Year awards.
