Hess chases old favourite Southall

GILLINGHAM are attempting to secure the three-month loan from Bolton of former Priestfield favourite Nicky Southall.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler wants to include him in tomorrow's side at Nottingham Forest but everything hinges on a deal being thrashed out whereby the two clubs agree a 50-50 split on wages.

Though Southall moved to Bolton on a Bosman free on May 8, 2001, he has stayed in touch with his old Gillingham team-mates.

He was among the guests at the wedding of Gillingham skipper Paul Smith in May.
