GILLINGHAM will not look outside the Premier League for what player-manager Andy Hessenthaler describes as the "fox-in-the-box" needed to sharpen their attack.

The team's need for greater potency up front was underlined by Saturday's 1-1 draw at Crewe where the team dominated for long periods without stressing their superiority with a match-winner.

Hessenthaler, who with coach Wayne Jones watched Birmingham Reserves last Wednesday, has ruled out moves for Argentinian Luciano Figueroa, who cost £2.5 million from Rosario Central, and City clubmate Andrew Barrowman.

"The Argentinian boy is injured and Barrowman is not for us," said Hessenthaler.

"We'll be looking again this week and if we come across a player whom we believe can do a job for us, then we'll attempt to sign him. I would rather not wait until Mamady Sidibe leaves for international duty with Mali next month."

He stressed; "But it will be a loan deal because there is no money to spend. What we need are a few managers in the Premier League to do us a favour because I don't think we can be looking at anywhere other than the Premier League.

"Clubs in Division 1 will not let their players out and anything lower than that would not be any good to us. Whether anything develops this week I don't know. But we'll keep searching."
