Rainham snooker player Gerard Greene will face last year's runner-up Ali Carter in the World Snooker Championships.

Greene's fellow Kent player Barry Hawkins, from Dartford, will meet the 2006 champion Graeme Dott.

Greene sent former champion Ken Doherty crashing out in the final qualifying round on Tuesday night. Hawkins defeated Daniel Wells 10-9 in a nail-biting game.

The championship gets under way at the Crucible in Sheffield on Saturday, April 18 and ends on May 4.
