Charlton v Stoke

ANDY GRAY looks set to make his Charlton home debut tonight against fellow Championship rivals Stoke.

The Scotland international striker, who made his debut for the Addicks as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Watford on January 19, looks likely to get the nod ahead of top-scorer Chris Iwelumo whom he replaced after 68 minutes at Vicarage Road where he played on an emergency loan.

The deal was finalised on Friday with the player agreeing a three and a half year contract after Charlton paid Burnley £1.5 million for Harrogate-born Gray.

The Turf Moor club will receive a further £500,000 dependent on the Addicks reaching the Premier League.

Gray was Burnley's 13-goal leading scorer, averaging a goal every other game.

"The manager has left me in no doubt about the role he wants me to play in the side and that's to link up play, hold the ball up and bring other players in." said Gray. "That's my natural game and I don't want to disappoint."

Apart from Gray replacing former Stoke striker Iwelumo, Charlton are likely to stick with the same side that started against Watford.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis admits his side are likely to face a player he wanted to bring to the Britannia Stadium.

He said: "We did inquire about Andy Gray to see what the deal was," said Pulis. "But Charlton were already well into him and talking enormous sums."
