LUKE YOUNG joined fellow England international Darren Bent in committing his long-term future to Charlton by signing a new four-year contract.

Less than 24-hours after striker Bent put paid to transfer speculation by signing a new and improved four-year deal, Young followed suit.

The 26-year-old England right-back, who had two years of his existing deal remaining, had been strongly linked with a move to West Ham where he suffered damaged ankle ligaments on April 2.

Young said: "After listening to what head coach Iain Dowie had to say about his plans for the future and the direction he wants to take the club, this feels like a place where you want to stay and work."
