ROCHESTER & Cobham Golf Club's Danielle Masters says she thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing in a men's pro tournament despite missing the cut.

The 20-year-old amateur was invited to take part in the EuroPro Tour competition at Tudor Park GC at Thurnham, near Maidstone, and didn't disgrace herself by finishing seven over par for the two rounds.

However, after carding a one over par round of 71 on Friday, she admits having a tinge of disappointment that she didn't score better the previous day.

Masters said: “I didn't feel nervous on Thursday but it was very strange having so much media interest. I had television cameras following me for the opening few holes.

“Ironically, I actually played well while they were there, but I finished the first round badly and dropped four shots on the last three holes.”

When world No 1 ladies golfer Annika Sorenstam took part in a US men's competition a few weeks ago, the event received a mixture of positive and negative reaction from the male players. However, Masters says the organisers and fellow players were pleased with how the tournament went.

She said: “Everyone I spoke to was happy for me to be there. At least I didn't finish last. I really enjoyed it and, if they invite me back, I'd love to do it again.”
