Gold medal joy for young boxer

A KENT youngster struck gold over the weekend.

Adam Middleton, 12, from Belvedere, triumphed in the national 36kg final of the Royal Navy ABA Golden Gloves Championships in West Yorkshire, winning his final bout against Chris Farley (Salisbury ABC) to land the gold medal.

Middleton, who trains at Nemesis amateur boxing club, said: “I could have worked a bit harder.

“I was disappointed with the way I boxed as I was really nervous but I’m over the moon to have won.”
