GILLINGHAM failed to notch up back to back home wins as they were held to a goalless draw by Yeovil at Priestfield on Saturday.

The Gills almost opened the scoring after just four minutes when Delroy Facey and Adam Miller combined well and the ball eventually found its way to Stuart Lewis, but his shot from the edge of the area was saved by Scott Flinders.

Leroy Griffiths had a half chance but he scuffed his shot straight at Flinders and John Nutter sent an effort into the stands when he should have done better.

The best chance for the visitors came in the 10th minute when Jamie Peters played in Liam Bridcutt but he shot over.

Gillingham dominated after the break and Facey was unlucky to see his shot curl just wide after a fine pass by Griffiths.

Yeovil were reduced to 10 men with 13 minutes to go when Stephen Maher was shown a straight red card after a tackle that left Simon King with a serious-looking injury.

Manager Mark Stimson said: "I wasn't totally happy as we wanted to win and get three points. Yeovil came with a game plan and after conceding a lot of goals recently we knew they wouldn't come here and play open and attractive football.

"We've taken four points from our last two games and if we can do that for the rest of the season then for a manager that's a dream. It's progression and we've kept another clean sheet and that's very encouraging."
