Gills striker not daunted by leaders

Wigan Athletic v Gillingham

TOMMY JOHNSON insists Gillingham are preparing for Saturday’s trip to league leaders Wigan as they would any other match.

It is a daunting game for the Gills against a side who are a point clear at the top of the Championship and who boast one of the best strike partnerships in the division in Nathan Ellington and Jason Roberts.

Johnson has been in good goalscoring form himself, scoring two in the last two games. His match-winning strike against Nottingham Forest was followed by Gillingham’s only goal in the defeat to Cardiff.

He will be hoping to retain his place in the starting line-up for new boss Stan Ternent’s first match in charge.
