Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson has been named as the League Two player of the month for January.

The 21 year old scored twice from the spot in the month, against Port Vale and Lincoln City, and he also struck in the televised FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

Despite interest from higher-division clubs, Mark Stimson has been keen to keep hold of the striker who has netted 14 times for his side so far this season and values him at over £1m.

Jackson was signed from Rushden and Diamonds for £150,000 a year ago and has recently been called up to the Canadian national squad.
